Done, cheers!

Elevate your fireside experience with the Telegraph Bench, a statement piece crafted from decommissioned timber power poles salvaged from across Australia. Each bench tells a story of resilience, highlighting the beauty of repurposed materials with your choice of a natural or charred finish.

The bench is supported by two custom concrete blocks, cast in our workshop using wet excess concrete salvaged from Brisbane building sites. By pairing timber and concrete—two materials often destined for landfill—we create a robust, functional design that redefines waste as a resource.

Versatile and durable, the Telegraph Bench is suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings. Designed to adapt to uneven or sloping terrain, it works effortlessly as comfortable seating for two or as a low, stylish side table. Wherever it’s placed, the Telegraph Bench brings character, functionality, and sustainability into focus.

At any given time there are over 6 million telegraph poles in use across Australia. Every year 200,000 of these are replaced due to ‘ground line failure’ where a small section of the pole becomes waterlogged. The rest of the pole is reusable however 80% of these are currently scraped due to a lack of recycling incentive. Our telegraph poles are made from untreated species of hardwood sourced by our supplier Kennedy’s Timbers.

As our benches are made from reclaimed materials, each piece will have slight variations in markings and colour compared to the images shown.

These benches are crafted from a mix of reclaimed Australian timber species. Some species, such as blackbutt, may release tannins when exposed to rain, which can cause staining on the concrete supports below. This is a natural characteristic of the material and is not considered a defect.

Additionally, exposure to sunlight may cause surface cracking in the timber. This does not affect structural integrity and is not considered a defect. We do not cover tannin bleeding or surface cracking under warranty.
