FIVE MILE RADIUS with [ ma - j r ] are working as architects and fabricators of a new bakery in Brisbane's bayside. Our role spans full design and documentation, as well as furniture and finishes fabrication for the front-of-house spaces, crafted in the FMR Workshop.

Inspired by the ocean and coastal landscape, the design explores waste materials in unexpected ways—sand, concrete, and plastics are repurposed to create surfaces and textures that subtly reference the rhythms of the shore. The concept embraces the beauty of imperfection, celebrating materials with a past and giving them new purpose.

Beyond aesthetics, the project is grounded in circular design principles, ensuring the space is not only inviting but environmentally responsible. From bespoke furniture to the layout of communal areas, every detail is considered to create a warm, tactile, and enduring experience.
