Winner - 2026 QLD Architectural Awards
We’re excited to share that our Landing Bakery project has been awarded the Harry Marks Award for Sustainable Architecture at the 2026 Queensland Architecture Awards. Earlier this year, the project was also recognised at the Greater Brisbane Regional Architecture Awards, receiving commendations in both the Interior Architecture and Sustainable Architecture categories.
Head here to learn more about the project.
Below, are some words straight from the QLD Architectural Awards jury.
Harry Marks Award for Sustainable Architecture
"Landing Bakery is an exemplary proposition of a sustainable design and build approach within the commonly intensive and often wasteful environment of commercial tenancy fitout. Landing Bakery’s interiors and exterior appear restrained and sparse with each introduced element being carefully considered and vetted with regard to its material origins, design and manufacture, and future use. The existing raw space has been accepted and incorporated as a workable condition to be adapted rather than recloaked or refashioned. Within the strict commercial timeframes typically set aside for design and fit out alone, the architects have undertaken detailed research into the immediate locality and local industry and manufacture base to extrapolate sustainable design and production opportunities latent within the place itself.
To this they have added previous learnings of waste and bi-product materials to establish a rigorously specific palette. The resulting fitout is an appreciable social harbour within the community. While, as a collective, architects are tasked with engaging in the crafting of sustainable outcomes within their project, these are often carried out within existing systems or the framework of compliance. Those who innovate and expand awareness of sustainable design, as demonstrated at Landing Bakery, deserve acknowledgement and applause."

Commendation for Interior Architecture
"Landing Bakery is resourceful collaboration between practices with a conceptual framework grounded in practicality. The design process of the bakery positions circularity and renewability at the core of the commonly intensive and often wasteful environment of commercial design and fit-out. The interiors are restrained yet eclectic and reflect the sourcing of materials and process of production. There is local referencing of industry and culture in the fit-out. The result is an appreciable social harbour within the community and a demonstration model of the possibilities of sustainable design."
